All Mission CISD elementary schools are preparing to welcome new students for this fall’s PreK-3 and PreK-4 programs. On these three days, district elementary schools will have staff available to answer phone calls from parents interested in learning more, or who need help in completing their child’s online registration. The hours for the phone help on February 10-12 will be 8:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. All registration will be online by accessing the district website, www.mcisd.net, and then clicking on the “Registration” link. Mission CISD elementary schools offer a full-day PreK-4 program with no language or income requirements. Students to be registered for the PreK-4 program must turn four years of age prior to September 1, 2021. Items that will need to be uploaded during the online registration process or made available to the campus to complete registration are: valid identification for the parent, the child’s birth certificate, child’s social security card if available, and child’s immunization records.

The district’s PreK-3 program is also a full-day program. However, students for the PreK-3 program must meet state eligibility requirements. Students for PreK-3 must be at least three years of age on September 1, 2021. The state eligibility requirements for the PreK-3 student also includes: unable to speak and comprehend the English language, be eligible for National School Lunch Program. Other criteria that can qualify a student for the Pre-k3 program include: be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces or the reserves, been in foster care, is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award-qualifying peace officers, firefighters, or emergency medical first responders. Out-of-district transfers for the PreK-3 program will only be accepted if the child has a sibling already attending a Mission CISD school. The children of Mission CISD employees will not have to meet the state eligibility requirements beyond the age requirement to be three years of age on or before September 1, 2021.

The Mission CISD PreK programs offer dual-language instruction that can continue with the student through fifth grade, with teachers who meet standard for highly qualified designations. These teachers offer individualized instruction through a research-based curriculum. The Mission CISD PreK programs also benefit from the district’s technology initiatives that provide devices for every student.
